Stille has control of the whole production process, from forging on to the finished instrument, which makes us unique in comparison with other manufacturers.

Stille

As in the 19th century, Stille instruments are to a large part made by hand. The road from raw blank to sophisticated instrument is a lengthy one, with many manufacturing operations and rigorous quality checks. The use of only highest quality forged steel gives the instrument elasticity and resilience.

The hardening of a surgical instrument is very important in order to achieve the correct hardness and elasticity in the material. Stille uses different hardening temperatures depending on the type of instrument that is being produced. In some cases different degrees of hardness is needed in one single instrument.

Stille instruments have no sharp edges where sutures or the surgeon's gloves can get caught. For instance, the box-locks are well-rounded, no more material than necessary, which also simplifies the cleaning process.

Characteristic for the Stille instrument is also that it is delicate and well balanced. All instruments are fine-tuned and finished to the "Stille feel", which after more than 160 years has become anything but arbitrary.

Stille instruments are high polished. A high polished instrument is more laborious to manufacture, but is also far more resistant to corrosion than a satin finished instrument. Satin finished instruments can be manufactured on demand.

All instruments manufactured and sold by Stille are guaranteed to be of the highest possible quality. This is obtained by choosing top quality of stainless steel, design with optimal function is focus, handicraft by skilled instrument makers and rigorous quality inspection.

An extension of the surgeon's hand. Progress in surgical techniques is continually putting higher demands on instrument design. A surgeon must be able to depend on his instruments to support his skills, and elevate his expectations. Precision, fine design and elasticity characterize the full range of Stille products, all designed to bridge the critical distance between the surgeon and the patient.

The quality system at Stille (Surgical AB) is in compliance with and certified according to ISO 9001. The scope of the certificate includes design, manufacturing, sales and service of surgical instruments.

Since 1841, only one thing has been found to improve the Stille instruments; putting them in the right hands.
